CRA Uncovers a Very Real SMB Business Risk

2014/11/5 (Wednesday) | Filed under: Desktop Computers

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 05, 2014

CRA, a leading managed IT solutions firm based in NYC, has uncovered that SMBs are taking great risks with their IT environments. According to a Symantec study, 57% of SMBs don’t have a disaster recovery plan. Additionally, the study stated one in four SMBs do not even view IT critical to their businesses.

The study also revealed SMBs lose $ 12,500 on average for each day of IT downtime. $ 12,500 per day to a small business could be devastating. Not proactively addressing this problem is plain malpractice and possessing an IT disaster recovery solution need to be a business imperative for every SMB. Preparation for emergencies of all sizes is key and implementing a solution can ensure an SMB’s readiness.

“SMB’s that do not have a disaster recovery plan are taking an unnecessary risk. Not recovering quickly from a disaster or outage could mean the loss of many clients and revenue,” stated Tom Richer, CRA’s chief sales and marketing officer.

So what is involved in a disaster recovery solution? According to, an IT disaster recovery plan needs to be part of a greater business continuity plan. The plan should compile an inventory of hardware (e.g. servers, desktops, laptops and wireless devices), software applications and data. The plan should include a strategy to ensure that all critical information is backed up along with identifying critical software applications and data and the hardware required to run them. IT systems require hardware, software, data and connectivity. Without one component of the “system,” the system may not run. Lastly, the recovery strategy should be developed to anticipate the loss of one or more of the following system components:

Computer room environment (secure computer room with climate control, conditioned and backup power supply, etc.)
Hardware (networks, servers, desktop and laptop computers, wireless devices and peripherals)
Connectivity to a service provider (fiber, cable, wireless, etc.)
Software applications (electronic data interchange, electronic mail, enterprise resource management, office productivity, etc.)
Data and restoration

Some SMBs cannot tolerate any downtime and should consider offsite, hosted Cloud solutions that leverage data synchronization.

(PRWEB) September 29, 2014

America’s enterprise communications software has gone global with the implementation of French translation into its existing service. For businesses operating in French speaking countries, this new option represents a fantastic opportunity to take advantage of the benefits of internal desktop notifications. From hospitals and universities to finance and logistics, DeskAlerts is an invaluable internal communications tool for French speaking businesses operating in all market sectors.

According to experts, internal communication is an integral part of boosting efficiency, aligning goals and improving workforce morale. DeskAlerts helps business managers upkeep effective workplace communication with its intelligent desktop notifications service.

Anton Vdovin, Project Manager at DeskAlerts said, “After careful market analysis, we identified French as a dialect that would be most valuable to our existing customer database as well as those we hope to acquire in the future. The incorporation of French into the DeskAlerts interface is an incredible opportunity for any French speaking business that wants to enhance its internal communications strategy. We’ve already received a hugely positive response and are expecting an influx of inquiries from French based businesses over the next few days.”

As one of the six official languages of the United Nations, French is a definitively global dialect. According to web-based language statistics publication Ethnologue, French is the 17th most used language in the world, with an estimated 75 million L1 speakers. As well as native speakers, an additional 27 million L2 speakers use the Romance language in countries such as the UK, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, Morocco, Haiti and Lebanon. French is also the official language of 29 countries across the globe.

In addition to being home to one of the world’s most popular languages, France is also one of the Western world’s most sophisticated and economically stable nations. The country boasts status as Europe’s second largest exporter and importer as well as America’s ninth largest trading partner. For French businesses employing a large workforce, DeskAlerts is a tremendous opportunity to improve communication across the board.

Thanks to the roll out of a number of new upgrades, the latest version of DeskAlerts 7 is more efficient than ever before. At the core of the new system is a personalized end user experience. Using a Widgets engine, users enjoy a personalized interface that gives them instant access to frequently used tools as well as the ability to simultaneously view multiple statistics and track real time activities.

For French speaking workplaces requiring the ability to carry out urgent internal correspondence, DeskAlerts 7 more than delivers. The new one-click emergency communications feature can be used to distribute pre-set notifications to a pre-determined recipient list in just minutes. When users pin the function to their personalized Widget dashboard, the process is quite literally a one click internal communications solution.

With a focus on boosting workplace productivity, DeskAlerts engineers have introduced a reinvented unobtrusive mode that offers users unsurpassed subtlety. For French speaking recipients using computers for full screen presentations, this function is ideal. It also helps end users to minimize distractions and maximize productivity.

Anton Vdovin, Project Manager at DeskAlerts said, “Our service is all about enhancing workplace communications and improving overall efficiency. The all new DeskAlerts 7 offers French speaking customers a range of new features that make desktop notifications easier, faster more convenient than ever before.
